Change

I intended this to be a very short note to tell you that our website is in the process of changing. In truth, it is not just the website. Change is constant. Building work to fit out the top floor of The Engine Room (part of the Town Deal project) officially began this week, new equipment has been arriving for several weeks and in April our new Creative Technologist, Daniel Birch, joined the Somerset Film team.

Keeping you up to date on everything we do and ongoing change is a challenge, so our Good News page is another way for us to try to direct you to the information you need and keep you informed. It’s called ‘Good News’ as there is often much to celebrate. Change is made possible by people and there are a whole host of them that have supported and shaped the Town Deal development: too many to thank individually in what is intended to be a short note but know that we think of you and thank you.

As a final comment, earlier this year we put out a call for young filmmakers to submit proposals for a short film commission, supported by BFI Film Academy South West. We are delighted to announce that Jasmine Otley was successful and is already in production on ‘65p’, a live action and animated short inspired by climate change. The film will be premiered later this year. Jasmine is definitely one to watch for the future.
