Somerset Film, supported by Arts Council England, is inviting young artists aged under 20 and living in Somerset to submit ideas for a new piece of sound art.

The successful applicant will receive £300, a further £200 for materials and an exhibition at The Engine Room.

Come and share your views or just listen in, all will be very welcome. This event gives us a chance to talk through ideas for actions at home and in workplaces, and to sketch out an action plan we can get behind in the months to come.  

The event is a contribution to the International Day of Climate Action. We have speakers from among others the Green Jobs Alliance, the General Federation of Trades Unions and the Town Council (talking about ‘greening’ the Town Hall) plus film and live music from Theo Simon and Seize the Day friends.

Inspired by C S John Sparkes and his use of film to document life in the village of Burtle, the local landscape and farming, Somerset Film presents an evening of heritage film. This is the third of three screenings.

Are you aged under 25 and live in Somerset?

We are commissioning a young filmmaker to produce an original short film!

Pitch your idea to be made into a short film, this must be a narrative fiction piece i.e. comedy or drama (not documentary). By ‘short’ we mean a maximum of five minutes*. It is free to submit your ideas and you can submit more than one.

On this one-day workshop for all ages, you’ll work together to make a short documentary film. You’ll develop an idea and find a good story or subject to document get hands on with cameras and microphones, and look at the editing software available. Plus, we’ll signpost you to resources to help further your filmmaking quest.

Come and view new original artwork by local artists, Ezra Metcalfe and Daniel Birch. The artwork will be viewed in two locations; SLATE and The Engine Room in Bridgwater.
