Young Somerset Filmmaker Commissioned by Somerset Film and Watershed

We are excited to announce the young filmmaker who has been commissioned to make their short film idea! 

Bridgwater based young filmmaker Toby Lee has had his original script selected for a Short Film Commission offered by Somerset Film in partnership with Bristol Watershed and supported by BFI Film Academy South West. He is now in the pre-production stage of his script ‘Expectations’ with the completion date for the film being April 2025.

As part of the award he received £500 cash budget, support from a filmmaker mentor and access to Somerset Film equipment to bring his ideas to the screen. The film will be premiered at the newly refurbished The Engine Room in Bridgwater.

Toby is definitely a talent to watch for the future. He completed a BFI Film Academy in 2023, attended the National School of Film and Television Residential Course in April 2024, and is filming the Young Film Academy’s ‘Project Paradiso’ as part of the camera crew in Sicily this February.
