Cultural Café

  • Bridgwater Together Culture Cafe at The Engine Room 50-52 High Street Bridgwater TA6 3BL United Kingdom (map)

FREE

Bridgwater Together have launched their Culture Cafe. They are having a protest songwriting workshop with John Diment, if songwriting is not for you, you could still pop in for a cuppa and some chat.

Local people are invited to attend a new Culture Café in Bridgwater to chat, connect and celebrate diversity over a free cup of coffee. Rather than a new business in town, the Café will make use of existing local community settings and is an innovative idea from local people working in partnership.

Since 2015, volunteers and organisations have come together to celebrate the town’s diverse communities through an event held called ‘Bridgwater Together’. To build on the success of this celebration through culture, music and food, the organisers are introducing a Culture Café for members of the public from all ethnicities to come together, make connections and chat in a more informal way.

The Culture Café events will take place roughly every other month in the run up to the annual event at the Town Hall, with the first one at The Engine Room on Sunday 23rd April 2023 from 2pm - 4pm.

This inaugural Culture Café will have a Protest song playlist from around the world. It will also feature local musician John Diment, who will be leading an activity to help you write your own. Take a guitar, your voice or just pen and paper to get involved. Organisers are also encouraging attendees to share a protest song that they know about, get creative in the craft corner or just go for a hot drink and a chat.

Future dates for the 2023 diary are May 21st, August 20th and October 15th. You can also follow Bridgwater Together on Instagram and Facebook.
