We are delighted to exhibit Elizabeth Woodger’s Menhir photographs for our first exhibition in the newly refurbished Studio 1 for 2 weeks. The exhibition will showcase images from the Moments on Mendip project, a contemporary art event that projected photographs onto the natural rock faces in Cheddar Gorge. A visual exploration of the evolving Mendip landscape. A discovery of the special qualities and unique features of one of the UK’s ‘National Landscapes’.
Elizabeth Woodger has also been appointed as our Artist in Resident for 2024, and will be creating new artwork to exhibit as part of Somerset Art Weeks 2024, which will be displayed in September.
The project was commissioned by the Mendip Hills AONB Service through Seed Sedgemoor and the Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme. It was delivered in partnership with Somerset Film, The Mendip Society, Somerset Earth Science Centre, and Windrose Rural Media Trust.
