Cert 12 A
A pragmatic paleontologist touring a new theme park on an island in Central America is tasked with saving a couple of young kids after a power failure causes the park’s cloned dinosaurs to break free and run amok. Sounds a bit far-fetched as a movie plot but 30 years ago Jurassic Park took the world by storm.
The cast of Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Richard Attenborough was impressive but perhaps the real star was the ground-breaking CGI used to portray the dinosaurs. Jurassic Park was the highest grossing film of the ‘90s until Titanic hit the iceberg (and the goldmine) in 1997 and passed the $1bn barrier. The film won over 20 awards, including three Academy Awards for technical achievements in visual effects and sound design.
