Where better to watch the classic b/w biopic celebrating WW2 heroine Odette than in the stylish tearoom named in her honour? Anna Neagle plays the young British woman parachuted into occupied France to support the resistance and then captured and tortured by the Gestapo. Fifties matinee idol Trevor Howard stars as her co-agent/lover/husband Peter Churchill. Made in 1950 this was one of the most successful films celebrating individual wartime bravery.
Odette lived in peaceful anonymity just outside Wellington in her later years and died in. Her great niece Sophie is attending the film and will give a talk about Odette for those who stay on after the film for a cream tea.
This event is sold out, which is part of Wellington Film Festival.
