Robert Richards Award: Sound Art Commission Deadline

Free to submit your commission idea

Sound Art Commission Opportunity for Young People in Somerset

Somerset Film, supported by Arts Council England, is inviting a young artist(s) living in Somerset to submit ideas for a new piece of digital art to be exhibited at The Engine Room.

By 'sound art' we mean an artistic work that uses sound - found sound, digitally produced sound, the voice - that is edited or produced digitally to make a final piece. It’s not simply music, though there might be a musical element to the work. It might be more experimental music, a soundscape for a game or a sound installation designed to transport the listener to a different time or location.

Ideally, the work will explore a subject or theme and we are keen to hear ideas linked to Somerset or the climate crisis.

The work must be completed before March 2025 so do consider any deadlines for coursework that you may have.

The successful applicant will receive £300, a further £200 for materials and an exhibition at The Engine Room.

Submit your idea by 1st November 2024.
