This event is part of Wellington Film Festival. In early March 2020, ten local residents embarked on a music and film-based project with Actiontrack Performance Company and Somerset Film to creatively capture life in the town. Just a few weeks later, Covid brought our established day to day routines to a halt and changed them dramatically over the ensuing months. This is a chance to see the completed final work and to hear the music specially composed for it, find out more.

Absolute Beginners (12)
Adults £5 | Over 12s £3.50
This event is part of Wellington Film Festival. Set against a backdrop of emerging teen culture and rising racial tension in late 50s London, Colin MacInnes' cult novel is brought to the screen in Julien Temple's lavish musical adaptation, find out more.

Heritage Films
Adults £5 | Children £3.50
This event is part of Wellington Film Festival. The festival’s evening of heritage films is an eclectic mix of new material and archive footage from sources as varied as The Box archive in Plymouth to family attics. It wouldn’t be Wellington if there wasn’t material from the major factories such as Tonedale Mill, Swallowfield and Relyon but there is also a lovely black and white recording of the town celebrating the 1936 Coronation. Who knows, you might spot your great-granny amid the bunting, find out more.

Scene with BFI Film Academy
Free for groups of students from local Secondary Schools and Colleges.

But short films are often the starting point for emerging talent to showcase their creative ideas and ability. This is a chance to see recently commissioned films that are making headlines in festivals. Come and find out how they took their first steps into the industry and what support there is locally for you to make your first film, find out more and how to book.
